Eastern European Experience
Friday, July 14, 2006 at 8:55
I think Eastern Europe has become more capitalistic then the West. Seems as though greed has taken over and the concept of value was lost along the way.
These countries need to continue to perpetuate the illusion of value while maintaining their own currencies as to confuse the tourist as to how much they are really spending. Again, the concept of offering value for Geld is a completely foreign idea.
Ironic that it cost almost 20 USD to see a smallish dilapidate sculpture garden of the former communist era. The Louvre doesn't cost near that amount.
However, having lived most of my life with the wall up and these places inaccessible I felt obligated (in morbidly curious way) to see what it all looked like.
I guess by paying the prices I contribute to the problem.
